West Recital Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Immerse yourself in a world of fantasy and passion with The Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship. Originally known as the Sun Aria, this event was established with the first Sydney Eisteddfod in 1933 to discover the finest voices throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Five emerging opera singers perform in front of an esteemed panel of industry experts with life-changing scholarships awarded to first and second place. Audiences are captivated year after year by breathtaking performances, including a featured guest orchestra.

Sydney Eisteddfod gratefully acknowledges the support of the John Lamble AO Foundation, the Estate of the late Miss Paula Clarkstone OAM, the Leslie Andrews Memorial Awards, the donors to the Sydney Eisteddfod Jubilee Fund and Kawai Australia.
