Background

John Lamble AO was a philanthropist and an advocate for the Creative Arts. He had a long association with the Sydney Eisteddfod as Chairman, Benefactor, Mentor, Emeritus Chair and Ambassador. The impact of his contribution across all these areas is immeasurable and firmly establishes his place in Sydney Eisteddfod history.

An Opportunity for Sydney Eisteddfod Alumni

The John Lamble Helping Hand Grant is a small grant program available only to Sydney Eisteddfod alumni. There is $3000 to distribute among one or more applicants who need support to complete a project to further their career in the performing arts. Some examples are replacement of pointe shoes, maintenance of a musical instrument, the cost of a masterclass or an application to audition or perform at a festival overseas.

Our alumni are those who have participated in a Sydney Eisteddfod event (conditions apply – please note the Eligibility Criteria).

Applications will be assessed on the relevance of the project & expenditure to furthering the career pathway. (Please note the Funding Conditions). The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must be aged 26 years or under and be resident in Australia.
  2. Applicants must be Sydney Eisteddfod alumni and have performed in at least one Sydney Eisteddfod event in the past 5 years.
  3. Applicants are to complete all the fields including the budget in the online application form on the website. Applicants need to include a one A4 page cover letter outlining further details of their project, budget and need for funding. For larger projects where matching funding is required, an outline of how & when this additional funding is being secured needs to be provided.
  4. The John Lamble Helping Hand Grant provides funding for individuals not organisations.

Funding Conditions

  • Only applications submitted through the online form on our website will be considered.
  • Applications will not be accepted after the closing date.
  • Only one application per entrant/family per annum is allowed.
  • Funds can only be applied specifically for the purpose as outlined in the original application. If not, the funds must be returned immediately.
  • Applicants under 18 years of age must have their application endorsed by a parent or guardian with their contact details on the Cover Letter. A parent or guardian can apply for a grant for their child/ward 18 years & under.

  • The Assessment Panel will consider favourably projects that are capacity building, demonstrate a real need and the capability to carry out the project.
