Adjudicator

Ms Peta Markham-Ward

With over 35 years of performing and teaching experience, and two decades adjudicating at local, regional, and national dance and cheer events, Peta brings a wealth of knowledge, warmth, and passion to every stage she steps onto. Her lifelong dedication to the Performing Arts is rooted in a deep belief that dance is not just about movement—it's about courage, creativity, and connection. Peta's journey began in high school, where her love for dance, drama, and singing flourished under the guidance of inspiring industry professionals. Her professional debut came when she joined the entertainment team on the P&O Fairstar, performing during school holidays. Since then, she’s had the joy of performing with Australian icons such as Tina Arena, Jane Scali, Dennis Walter, Ricky May, Paul Mercurio, and the late Bobby Limb—all while touring the country and gracing stages in Sydney. After pausing her performing career to raise her three children, Peta shifted her focus to teaching. She has educated and inspired students across respected studios and institutions, from primary to university level. She’s also shared her infectious energy through fitness programs like Zumba®, ZumbAtomic®, and HOT HULA® at gyms, schools, and community centres. Her choreographic work spans major events including World Cup Soccer, Sydney Flames and Kings basketball games, Sydney Business Awards, the Easter Show, and more. As an adjudicator, Peta is known for her thoughtful and constructive feedback, her vibrant and encouraging presence, and her professionalism across all genres—including vocals. She believes in nurturing not just great performers, but strong, kind, and resilient young people. For Peta, every dancer's journey matters. She is committed to empowering the next generation through guidance, opportunity, and unwavering support—reminding them that success is not only found onstage, but in who they become along the way.
