Entry Information

A memorised solo performance of at least three items, including one contemporary piece and one heightened text (written in verse). Total performance time to be between 10-12 minutes (including introductions and linking dialogue totalling approximately 1 minute). Entrants are encouraged to consider contrasting works.

Adjudicator

Ms Jacqui Cowell

Jacqui Cowell is an experienced Drama Teacher, Arts Manager, Director, Creative Producer and Performer. Her experience extends to teaching and managing arts education programs at NIDA, Australian Theatre for Young People, Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare and Australian, Film, Television and Radio School. She is currently the Manager of Arts and Culture at Bondi Pavilion (Waverley Council). Jacqui sung professionally in the band Girlfriend in the 90’s, touring nationally and internationally and recording 3 albums. She has directed shows at NIDA and Australian Theatre for Young People and in schools and in an experienced NESA marker for the Higher School Certificate Drama course.

Important Notes

Entrants are encouraged to vary repertoire choices in order to develop their expressive and technical capabilities. However, there are no restrictions on the number of times a work can be repeated across multiple events, including Principal events

Conditions

In this Championship, the use of costume for any item is at the performer's discretion. Rehearsal blacks should be worn if the entrant is forgoing costuming. Adjudicators' reports will be written but no marks will be given on these reports. Please refer to the Speech & Drama Rules & Conditions of Entry. Your entry is accepted under these conditions. Please be advised that this principal event is open to all entrants who meet the age parameters, with no prerequisite events required.
