Mr Bradley Lucas
Bradley Lucas is a Lecturer in Euphonium and Head of Brass at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he previously earned his Bachelor of Music Performance in Euphonium under the tutelage of Scott Kinmont. In 2023, his reputation for excellence led to his appointment as Visiting Professor of Brass at the Shenyang Conservatory.
As a performer, he has performed with ensembles including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, NSW Police Band, and Royal Australian Navy Band Sydney. He is also a founding member of the Sydney Ophicleide Quartet. Beyond his primary teaching responsibilities, he runs workshops, masterclasses, and rehearsals with schools, regional conservatories, and community ensembles throughout New South Wales.
Bradley has established himself as a versatile conductor and educator who is widely recognised for his work in both the orchestral and symphonic band fields. His conducting career, shaped by mentorship from Stephen Williams and Dr. John Lynch, includes his current position as Musical Director of the Kuringai Youth Orchestra and guest conducting engagements with many of Sydney’s orchestras including the North Sydney Symphony and Woollahra Philharmonic. He works at the NSW Department of Education ‘Arts Unit’, where he conducts the NSW Public Schools’ Symphonic Wind Ensemble and conducts orchestras and wind ensembles at State Music Camps. His versatility is further demonstrated through his work with the Sydney Conservatorium ensembles, including the Brass Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and Chinese Music Ensemble.
Since 2016, Bradley has served on the NSW Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association’s committee, where he currently holds the position of Vice-President. During this time, he has been instrumental in providing professional development for conductors and music educators across the country. His career reflects his unwavering dedication to musical excellence through education, performance, and mentorship.
