Dr James Nightingale
Dr James Nightingale is a saxophonist based in Sydney, Australia. He has performed in Sydney’s classical music scene over a period of more than three decades, performing as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician. James has performed at the Canberra International Music Festival, Backstage Music and the Melbourne International Saxophone Festival and is the alto saxophonist with the saxophone quartet Continuum Sax. He has performed as a casual musician with all of Sydney’s professional orchestras and many prestigious ensembles, including Ensemble Offspring, Australian Chamber Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra
James is an examiner for the Australian Music Examinations Board and has served as syllabus writer and on syllabus committees for the AMEB. He was engaged as Consultant Editor on the AMEB’s Series 2 Saxophone Repertoire books. James currently teaches saxophone at Sydney Grammar School and has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (1996-2009). He holds a PhD in Cultural Policy Studies from the University of Queensland as well as Masters and Bachelor degrees in Saxophone performance from the University of Sydney. James also volunteers as a presenter and programmer for 2MBS Fine Music Sydney, where his voice can be heard almost every week.

Conditions
At the discretion of Sydney Eisteddfod Management, selected place-getters aged 13-15 years may qualify for Event 220: Sydney Eisteddfod Alf & Pearl Pollard Memorial Instrumental Awards for Performance Excellence (13-15 Years). If insufficient entries in either Events 267, 268, 269 or 270 these will combine. Please refer to the Instrumental Category Rules & Conditions of Entry. Your entry is accepted under these conditions.
