Own choice of two or more piano works contrasting in style and period, displaying a diverse and varied recital program. Total performance time of up to 10 minutes, which includes time taken between items.

Described as “impressive” (NYTimes), “impeccable” (Fanfare Magazine), and “entrancing” (BBC Music Magazine), pianist Lee Dionne has performed numerous solo and chamber debut recitals in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Jordan Hall, Merkin Hall, Spivey Hall, and the Philharmonic in Bratislava. With his ensemble the Merz Trio, Lee was a recipient of the prestigious Naumburg Award in Chamber Music and first prize winner of the Fischoff, Chesapeake, and Concert Artist Guild Competitions. Currently Lee co-directs Hayes Street Studio — an international centre for chamber music — alongside flautist Rosie Gallagher. Founded by Lee and Rosie in 2023, the studio presents over forty concerts of chamber music annually, featuring leading Australian and international musicians. Since moving to Sydney in 2023, Lee has partnered with and been presented by organisations including Musica Viva, Piano Plus, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Writers’ Festival, ABC Classic, Fine Music Sydney, Omega Ensemble, Sydney Eisteddfod, and MOST. Lee joins the faculty of the Sydney Conservatorium as Associate Lecturer in Piano and Collaborative Piano in 2025

Note: Works may be repeated once in another event. At the discretion of Sydney Eisteddfod Management, selected place-getters aged 13-15 years may qualify for Event 220: Sydney Eisteddfod Alf & Pearl Pollard Memorial Instrumental Awards for Performance Excellence (13-15 Years). If insufficient entries in either Events 221 or 222 these will combine. Please refer to the Piano Rules & Conditions of Entry. Your entry is accepted under these conditions.
