5-30 dancers. (Note: Items 11 & 20 under the Dance Category Rules & Conditions). This event is open to students in Stage 5 & 6 (Years 9 - 12). Time limit up to 5 minutes.

Ms Sophie McKie
At just 16, Sophie completed her HSC dance units and went on to study full-time. In 2017, she was awarded a scholarship from West Coast Dance Explosion after training extensively across leading Sydney studios.
She holds a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management and was appointed by Australian School Dance to teach in primary and high schools throughout the Hunter region. In 2010, she expanded her training in the United States, where she connected with international choreographers and educators, further fuelling her passion for dance education.
Sophie’s career includes choreography and performance work in musical theatre, music videos, and international television commercials. She has choreographed events for Newcastle City Council, served as Creative Director for the “Diamond Dancers,” and worked alongside national and international artists. Her choreography has earned numerous awards, and she is frequently invited to guest teach and sit on audition panels nationwide.
In 2017, she completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and became an assessor for the Australian Dance Institute. She has contributed to syllabus development for Australian Dance Vision and travelled extensively as an examiner.
Sophie currently teaches at a competition studio, runs First Steps Bridal Lessons, and leads Milibelle—a brand dedicated to promoting inclusion and positivity in dance. She is also the Content Manager for Dance Ed Tips, a US-based company creating teaching resources for dance educators worldwide.
A national and international adjudicator, Sophie is passionate about technical excellence, creative expression, and empowering the next generation. She is excited to share her experience and energy with the dancers at this event.
Important Notes
Please note that dance tarkett will be provided - vocalisations from performers and footwear with metal or sneakers with black soles are not permitted.
Music is to be uploaded to the Sydney Eisteddfod Entrant Portal no later than 14 days prior to the event. Files should be in MP3 format. Please refer to Item 9 of the Dance Rules & Conditions of Entry.
Applicants will be prompted to complete additional information, via the Sydney Eisteddfod Entrant Portal, in the lead up to their event:
* Number of performers
* Names of helpers and teachers who will require venue back of house access
Note: A maximum of 3 helpers need to remain with the group at all times, including going with them to warm-up areas (if such spaces are available), settling the group prior to taking to the stage, assisting, and supervising the group after their performance.
