Cellist and Teacher. Paul began his musical journey at school in Melbourne, going on to attend the Melbourne Conservatorium of music for his undergraduate studies. After completing this degree with Honours, he studied abroad in Europe with notable teachers Walter Despalj and Howard Penny in Zagreb and Vienna, returning to attend the Australian National Academy of Music’s Advanced Performer Programme. Moving to Adelaide, Paul worked with the Adelaide Symphony and Orchestra Victoria, beginning a Master of Music degree under cellist Janis Laurs. After a brief stretch spent travelling the world as a chamber musician, Paul moved to Tasmania, where he worked with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and completed his Master of Music under Christian Wojtowicz. Moving to Sydney in 2010 with his violinist wife, Paul built up a teaching studio and worked extensively in schools on the North Shore, completing a Master of Teaching degree and teaching at the Australian Institute of Music. In 2016 Paul moved into classroom teaching, and this combination of skills and experience has led to his appointment as the Head of Strings at The King’s School, North Parramatta. Paul is an active chamber musician and performer, concertizing whenever the opportunity arises.
