Own choice of a program. Total performance time of up to 8 minutes, which includes time taken between items.

Mr J.B Smith

Dr. J. B. Smith is Emeritus Professor of Music and the former Coordinator of Percussion Studies at Arizona State University. He is internationally recognized as a performer, composer, educator and conductor. He has performed with a variety of ensembles including Hourglass Ensemble, Opera Australia Orchestra, Sydney Lyric Orchestra, The Desert's Edge Clarinet Percussion Duo with Dr. Robert Spring, Crossing 32nd Street, Ensemble 21, The Daniel Lentz Group, Summit Brass and The Phoenix Symphony. He received degrees in music performance and education from Baylor University, University of Illinois and University of North Texas. Dr. Smith proudly endorses Pearl Drums, Adams Percussion, Remo Drumheads, Zildjian Cymbals, Mike Balter Mallets, and Grover Pro Percussion.

Important Notes

Groups are not permitted to reconfigure the stage for setup, unless Sydney Eisteddfod Staff have been notifed prior.

A hard copy of complete scores, in order of performance, with bars numbered, must be provided upon arrival at the venue. Specific genre items (e.g. Romantic, Classical) and Grades must also be identified on scores.

Conditions

3-14 instrumentalists. Any group or combination of exclusively percussion instruments. Piano can be included in the scoring, so long as it does not provide lyrical accompaniment.

Sydney Eisteddfod in partnership with Knox Grammar School will provide standardised ensemble equipment. Should groups intend on bringing additional instruments they must notify Sydney Eisteddfod, no later than two weeks prior to the performance date, to [email protected]
