Wanda Wojtulewicz-Levine
Wanda has a uniquely broad range of knowledge in National and Character Dance. She has more than 30 years teaching experience and has directed major national folkloric and music festivals for 10 years for the Sydney Opera House. Her training has included intensive study periods both in Australia and Moscow. Her numerous visits to Moscow involved extended study at the University of Natalia Nesterova, the Moiseyev School, and a full scholarship at the Lunacharsky State Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), where she studied the teaching methodology of Character and Folk Stage Dance. While her education was grounded in the Moiseyev style, she also studied Spanish dance and Cuban dance in Havana and Sydney. She performed for many years with various dance ensembles, where the repertoire included dances from Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, the Philippines, Mexico, and Cuba. She has taught and choreographed extensively in ballet schools, tertiary institutions and for performance groups. Her guest engagements include The Boys’ Summer School, WAAPA, the Royal Academy of Dance, the Cecchetti Society, Ausdance, NIDA, University of Natalia Nesterova (Moscow), Theatre of Image, and Sport for Jove. She is currently working with full time and part time students at several dance schools and community groups in Sydney.
