The 2017 Australian Choral Grand Prix

Each year some of Australia’s best choirs come together under one roof for one of the most entertaining events in the Sydney Eisteddfod calendar.

The Australian Choral Grand Prix sees the best place-getters from The John Lamble Foundation Australasian Open Choral Championship (Any Age and Youth categories) battle it out on stage for their slice of the $20,000 prize pool.

Presented by Sydney Eisteddfod in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove, the Australian Choral Grand Prix awards the overall winner and the best performance of work by an Australian composer – both chosen by a jury – while the crowd can once again get involved in the People’s Choice awards for the top 3 choirs. In addition, all finalist groups take home $1,000.

The 2016 winners Endeavour Harmony Chorus celebrated their win with a live performance at Channel 7’s morning show Sunrise and went on to release the CD The Platinum Collection.

The Australian Choral Grand Prix will be held on August 20, 2.30pm at the John Vallance Hall of Sydney Grammar School.
