Status: Open

Heats: All entrants present a classical ballet solo before an audience. Traditional classical repertoire is allowed. Time limit up to 3 minutes. Adjudicators' reports will be written for the classical solos only. No marks will be given on these reports.

Semi-Final: CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC - Up to one third will be selected for a Master Class. Semi-Finalists will be required to produce proof of age before they are allowed to compete (e.g. birth certificate or a passport). They should also bring with them a 200-word biography (in paragraph format) and an outline of proposed course of study. They must also indicate if they wish to be considered for one of the two Scholarships from the Australian Ballet School.

The Australian Ballet School may, at its discretion, offer up to two Scholarships covering tuition and academic costs for one year to finalists who nominate to study at The ABS in 2023.

Final: Eight Finalists will be chosen from the Master Class to present two routines: (a) classical ballet solo from the heat AND (b) free contrasting routine. Time limit up to 3 minutes each.

BOTH ITEMS may be REPEATS. Please refer to Item 7 under the Dance Category Rules & Conditions.

CONDITIONS:
1. Previous winners not eligible.
2. Dress code for the Master Class:
- Ladies: Leotard with pink tights and flat ballet shoes with elastics (no ribbons). Please bring your Pointe Shoes for this Master Class (Semi-Final).
- Gentlemen: Any coloured tights, white tight-fitting top (no singlets), white socks with white shoes, or black sock with black shoes.
NOTE: Entrants not following this dress code may be disqualified.
3. The Scholarship must be taken up within two years from the date of winning and be completed within two years thereafter or be forfeited.
4. Please also refer to Item 21 under the Dance Rules & Conditions of Entry. Your entry is accepted under these conditions.

Total Prize Value $11,500

Winner: Total Value $7,000 ($1,000 cash, plus a Scholarship of $6,000 over four equal quarterly instalments, upon application, subject to proof of continued tuition).

Second Place: $1,500.

Finalists: $500 each (excluding place-getters): Sponsored by Robert Albert AO & Libby Albert.

General Session tickets are sold at the venue prior to the session. General Session seating is unreserved. Sydney Eisteddfod is going cashless for your safety. EPTPOS facilities will be available. No surcharge will be applied. Tickets are available for purchase from 45 minutes prior to the session.
