Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Quarter-Finalists Announced

perform.

The 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod has officially began and is already shaping up to be a stellar year! The first event to take place was the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Heats on Sunday 14 May 2017, where entrants were able perform via Audio Recording  or Live Performance. All entrants were required to perform one aria which they felt demonstrated their skills and commitment to the operatic art form.

The Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship requires entrants to prepare four contrasting arias from four different operas, from at least two musical periods and in at least two languages. This is no easy feat and also requires one aria to be from before Mozart's death, and one from after Mozart's death in 1791.

After much deliberation the following 31 entrants have been announced as making it through to the Quarter-Final:

Amanda Windred
Morgan Balfour
Jessica Harper
Jenna Robertson
Jessie Wilson
Zoe Drummond
Damian Arnold
Bronwyn Douglass
Danita Weatherstone

Joshua Oxley

Jessica Westcott
Matthew Reardon
Raphael Hudson

The Quarter-Final will take place on 10 June and requires entrants to perform a different aria of their choosing. At the conclusion of the event, 16 Semi-Finalists will be revealed.

Sydney Eisteddfod cannot wait to see these talent young artists perform once again and wishes them all the best of luck for this next round.
