Morgan Balfour, 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Quarter-Finalist
Morgan Balfour holds a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance, Classical Voice from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She is currently completing a Master’s Degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Most recently, Morgan performed the role of Céphise in Pinchgut Opera’s production of Pigmalion. She will shortly be performing in Sydney Philharmonia’s Tudor Portraits Concert.
On the operatic stage, Morgan has performed the roles of Meleagro in Atalanta (San Francisco Conservatory of Music), the Governess in The Turn of the Screw (San Francisco Conservatory of Music), Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (Hawaii Performing Arts Festival), Frasquita in Carmen (Opera New England), Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (QCGU), Honour in King Arthur (Brisbane Baroque Festival), Nella in Gianni Schicchi (QCGU) and Zerlina in scenes from Don Giovanni (LGNOS).
Morgan’s oratorio work includes the roles of both Queen’s and First Harlot in Handel’s Solomon, Merab in Handel’s Saul, and the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat and Vivaldi’s Gloria. She has appeared as a soloist at a host of music festivals including the 2016 Brisbane Baroque Festival, 2016 Coriole Music Festival, and the 2015 Port Fairy Music Festival.
