Joelene Griffith, 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Quarter-Finalist
Joelene holds a Master of Philosophy from The University of Newcastle Australia where she studied thanks to a full Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship. She has sung with the Newcastle University Chamber Choir, performs regularly with the Scots Kirk Baroque Band and has been a young artist with Pacific Opera.
Joelene’s operatic roles include Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro (2013, Pacific Opera), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (cover, 2013, Sydney Independent Opera), Alms Sister in Suor Angelica (2013, Harbor City Opera), Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (2014, Armidale English Music Festival), The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute (Gertrude Opera: Warwick Stengårds) , Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte (Penrith Symphony Orchestra: Paul Terracini), Amina in Bellini's La Sonnambula (Penrith Symphony Orchestra: Paul Terracini). Joelene’s oratorio performances include Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, The Messiah with Penrith Symphony Orchestra and Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Art of Sound Orchestra.
