Jessica Westcott, , 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Quarter-Finalist
Soprano Jessica Westcott graduated the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and received the Patricia Lucas Achievement prize.
In her two years of performing with Opera Australia’s NSW Schools Tour, Jessica delighted children from around the state in over 400 performances. Her roles for OA include Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola).
In April 2017, Jessica performed in Opera Australia’s “Opera on Sydney Harbour” production of Carmen. Further engagements see Jessica touring to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and New York City, presenting a new Australian work - “Chamber Pot Opera”.
Further performance credits include: Meg (Little Women), Madame Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor), Musetta (La Boheme), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) and Adina (La Sonnambula - Scenes). Soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (PSO) and Dvorak’s Te Deum (Sydney Con).
In 2016, Jessica was a finalist in the Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship for The Opera Foundation Australia, and in 2013 Jessica was the recipient of the BBM Youth Support Award for Music Performance; a prize which took her to London, New York, San Francisco and Salzburg to undertake intensive coaching from (amongst others) international operatic veterans; Barbara Bonney, Catherine Cook and Yvonne Kenny.
Jessica also holds a Bachelor of Languages (French, German), from the Australian National University, and has studied performance comedy at the Le Coq School of Clowning. She hails from the small country town of Parkes, NSW.
