Esther Yee Eun Song, 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Quarter-Finalist
Esther Yee Eun Song completed a Bachelor degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as a cellist in 2015. In November 2016 she started to take singing lessons with Dr Rowena Cowley to audition for the Graduate degree as a soprano in December. After 5 weeks of lessons and hard work she was accepted into the course. They worked hard on song and opera repertoire, lyric diction and presentation, as well as the bases of technique. They continued to explore the roles and repertoire for which she is best suited. Esther is currently studying Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she looks forward to preparing roles in both Cavalli’s La Calisto and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in 2017.
Her goal is to complete Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with intensive lessons, coachings, study in language and diction, as well as stagecraft, dance, opera history, role preparation and performance. At the completion of her studies, she plans to continue intensive study and performance and also audition for Young Artist Programmes in Australia, Europe and the United States.
