Prudence Caldwell

Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship

Prudence Caldwell was born and grew up in Newcastle, New South Wales where she began dance classes at the age of 4 and completed her R.A.D examination under the guidance of Marie Walton Mahon. In 2002, after winning the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod (McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge) Ballet Scholarship and gaining her Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award, Prudence began her formal training at the Australian Ballet School.

After completing her advance diploma in dance, Prudence’s performances have included those with The Australian Ballet Dancers Company,The Queensland Ballet (under the directorship of Francois Klaus) and fur ther abroad with The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet and many European leading ballet companies. During Prudence’s career as a ballerina she has performed hundreds of ballets from the classics of Swan Lake and Nutcracker to contemporary pieces from renowned choreographers such as Natalie Weir, in ‘Wuthering Heights’.

More recently, Prudence based herself in the USA and began training in LasVegas and Florida with the illustrious Cirque Du Soliel and famous SandouTrio. It was here, Prudence studied Aerial Arts and has gone on to produce and perform the show ‘Two Worlds’ where she has combined her ballet artistry with aerial and contortionist skills. Performing ‘Two Worlds’ has wowed audiences and gained accolades worldwide.

With over 20 years experience, from performing to guest teaching internationally, Prudence especially enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge with young aspiring artists.
