Press Release: Four finalists announced for The Sydney Eisteddfod John Allison & Kawai Piano Scholarship

Four outstanding pianists have been selected to compete in the final round of The Sydney Eisteddfod John Allison & Kawai Piano Scholarship on Friday 20 July 2018.

The 2018 Finalists are:  
Alexander Yau (Epping, NSW)
Rio Xiang (Northmead, NSW)
Nicholas Kennedy (Willoughby North, NSW)
Oscar-Shoyo Wong (Gold Coast, QLD)

The 4 finalists were selected by adjudicators Gerard Willems AM & Dr Katie Zhukov from a pool of 28 entrants aged 16-25 years after the heats on 6 July.

The scholarship was established to discover and encourage a promising young pianist, on the cusp of a professional career and offers a total prize value of $13,500.

This opportunity for emerging pianists would not be possible without the support of sponsors Kawai Australia and The Estate of the Late John Allison.

Two Finalists will also be invited to compete in the ‘2018 Fine Music Young Virtuoso Award’ state final on Sunday 14 October.
