Dancer and actor Kip Gamblin has joined Prinnie Stevens in the cast of The Bodyguard Musical, playing at the Lyric Theatre this April.

The Sydney Eisteddfod alumnus, who is most recently know as Brad Willis in the popular television series Neighbours, will bring the lead role of former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer to life on stage alongside Paulini Curuenavuli as Rachel Marron. The two roles were played in the hit 1992 movie The Bodyguard by actors Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Kip is well and truly used to the stage having been a Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship Finalist in 1992 and a well-known television actor, but taking on his first stage musical role will be an entirely different experience and he is welcoming the chance to tell a story from beginning to end.

The Bodyguard Musical producer John Frost said: “When Kip revealed very strong chemistry with Paulini during auditions, we knew we had found our ideal bodyguard.”

“With Paulini and Prinnie Stevens, two extraordinary performers, singing a soundtrack of incredible songs, audiences are sure to be enthralled. I can’t wait to get into the rehearsal room and I have no doubt Australia will fall in love with this iconic story and those soaring ballads all over again.”
