Sydney Eisteddfod staff and volunteers take pleasure in congratulating 17-year-old Joshua Green, who won the gold medal for male entrants in the Royal Academy of Dance's 2018 Genée International Ballet Competition, along with a cash prize and the choreographer’s award for the best Own Variation.
This year, the competition took place in Hong Kong, and as the standard was high, Joshua can take pride in his efforts, along with those of his teacher Karen Ireland and classmate Caitlin Garlick, also a Sydney Eisteddfod Alumni, who finished with the silver medal in the section for girls.
In 2017, Joshua travelled from Lismore to compete in the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship and reached the quarter final. He departed determined to improve and a few weeks ago, he returned to compete along with 130 other hopeful dancers in the preliminaries for the 2018 competition. On this occasion danced his way through a series of elimination rounds and qualified for a place in the final that that will take place in the Concert Hall at Sydney Opera House on 26 August 2018.
He is undoubtedly a high achiever and everyone Sydney Eisteddfod wish him every success in his further studies and future career.
