It is with great sadness that we farewell beloved founder of the Tanya Pearson Academy, Mrs Tanya Pearson OAM, who passed away very peacefully yesterday morning.
In a career spanning over 50 years, Mrs Pearson worked with passion and dedication to train many successful dancers who went on to become Principals and Soloists in Companies all around the world, and revered as a guest teacher and adjudicator, not only in Australia but also overseas.
For more than 25 years, Mrs Pearson has led annual overseas study and auditions tours for students and teachers, many of these have included Sydney Eisteddfod alumni.
In 2017, Sydney Eisteddfod began officially celebrating the extraordinary contribution of Mrs Tanya Pearson OAM with the establishment of the Tanya Pearson Artistry Award and Grand Défilé as part of the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship Final which continues to this day.
Tanya Pearson OAM will be missed by many, however her teaching methodologies and passion for artistry will continue to be carried on by many students, dancers and teachers throughout the world.
