Danielle Playel began dancing, singing and acting at 5, performing as a child in commercials, television specials and live on stage as part of The Brent Street Kids showgroup.While completing her HSC exams, she rehearsed for her first professional musical theatre ensemble role as a ‘Shark’, getting to perform alongside Caroline O’Connor as ‘Anita’, and understudied the role of ‘Anybody’s’ - definitely a career highlight. She then continued in musical theatre, landing roles in ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Grease - The Arena Spectacular’ and ‘Fame The Musical’, in which she understudied and frequently performed the lead role of ‘Carmen’.

Shor tly after being offered a position in ‘Shout’, Dani moved to Los Angeles.There, she continued as a commercial dancer, booking 2 National commercials for ‘Dr Pepper’ and a number of spots in music videos for Michael Jackson, Prince, Justin Timberlake, Blink 182, Fountains of Wayne and Alexandra Burke. She was in Los Angeles for 12 years, also performing as the lead singer in an 80’s cover band and studying acting.

Throughout her career, from about 14, Dani has taught dance. She is interested in supporting younger performers to follow their goals, whatever they may be, in dance and the arts in general. She returned to Australia 5 years ago as a Mum of twin girls and being passionate about health and parenting, currently teaches Mum and Bubs Pilates. Having adjudicated for about 10 years, she appreciates the work of the teachers, students and parents that goes into what she gets to see.
