The Hillel String Quartet on stage at the 2014 McDonald's Sydney Eisteddfod

The Hillel String Quartet scores an impressive victory

The Hillel String Quartet that claimed second place in the Sydney Eisteddfod Musica Viva Chamber Music Award last year has been named recipient of the inaugural Westheimer String Quartet Fellowship Program.  This award was recently established by Professor Gerald Westheimer AM to help promising string quartets with the costs involved in receiving private coaching, attending master classes and participating in festivals and competitions abroad.

The players, Benjamin Adler (violin), Bridget O’Donnell (violin), Elizabeth Woolnough (viola) and Bethan Lillicrap (cello) formed the quartet at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012 and have been working tirelessly together ever since. Impressed by their performance on Sydney Eisteddfod stages last year, we applaud their latest achievement and wish them every success.
