One of the most diverse and engaging events held annually by Sydney Eisteddfod is the prestigious Australian Choral Grand Prix. First presented to audiences back in 2013, the event has established itself as a crowd favourite, where choristers battle it out for their share in the $20,000 prize pool.
The Australian Choral Grand Prix is not an event groups can simply enter into, rather stand out performances from The John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championships are selected to participate in the event and showcase their talent and vocal skills. 2016’s selection will be made from the Any Age and Youth (19/u) championships.
Audience attendance and involvement is vital to the event as this year, the People’s Choice Awards consist of three prizes totaling $7000. The Jury will once again be in charge of selecting their own winner and a performance of work by an Australian Composer or Arranger. All finalists are awarded a $1000 prize awarded by The Rotary Club of Sydney Cove, co-presenters of this magnificent event.
The Australian Choral Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 21 August at 2.30pm in the New Hall of Sydney Grammar School.
