The Sydney Eisteddfod Junior and Senior Singer of the Year Finalists always know how to put on a show and this year’s jam-packed back-to-back program at Petersham RSL Club was no different! All finalists in both categories performed to an astonishing level, but after difficult deliberation the judges were confident to announce their chosen winners.
Teagan Denham impressed the judges with her performances of Blue Skies by Irving Berlin, Gravity by Sara Bareilles and Aerosmith's Dream On leading to her being crowned the 2017 Senior Singer of the Year. She was awarded a generous $5,000, sponsored by Petersham RSL Club and supplemented by the Sydney Eisteddfod Jubilee Fund.
Justin Chen stood out from the other competitors in his age group and took out the well-deserved title of Junior Singer of the Year. He performed hit songs Anthem from Chess the Musical and Proud of Your Boy from Aladdin the Musical and was awarded a generous $2,000.
Georgia Burley and Michelle Mutyora were awarded recorded backing tracks worth $300 & $250 respectively, generously provide by backingtracks.com.au.
2017 marks a 27 year partnership between Sydney Eisteddfod and Petersham RSL Club. Sydney Eisteddfod is grateful to the directors, staff & members of Petersham RSL Club for their continued help & support over the years.
Sydney Eisteddfod congratulates all finalists on their performances, but extends a further round of applause to Teagan and Justin on their tremendous wins!
