Sydney Eisteddfod welcomes its new Chairman

The Board and Staff of Sydney Eisteddfod take pleasure in welcoming its new Chairman Mr Andrew Bissex, who has gathered a wealth of experience in his long and successful career.

“I am delighted to join the Sydney Eisteddfod. This wonderful organisation has been providing the opportunity to compete and learn to thousands of young people for 82 years. Many of our artists have progressed to The Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, ACO and Sydney Symphony to name just a few. My priority will be to seek sponsors to replace McDonald’s as they reduce their involvement. We offer great exposure at our 300+ events each year along with the prestige of being associated with a premier arts organisation.” commented Mr Bissex.

Mr Bissex is a Non-Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer and Director with over 20 years board level experience across the Telecoms, Wireless and Retail sectors.

At board level Andrew was CEO of Vodafone Australia, non-executive director of Vodafone Fiji, Pacific Link Hong Kong and Pacific Telelink.

As Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Australia, he opened 130 retail shops and grew the company at a rate of 30,000 new customers a month and the Vodafone network was ranked as the best performing network in all but one state.

He was also Founder and Director of Destiny Wireless Australia, a business he sold in 2014.

With a keen interest in the performing arts, Mr Bissex believes Sydney Eisteddfod plays a vital role in nurturing Australia’s developing talents from a grassroots level. He appreciates all it has achieved over the past 82 years, and aware of its potential, he hopes to see it expanding to greater heights under his leadership.
