Marked by the passing of two dear friends, Monday, 13 July was a sad day for all involved with Sydney Eisteddfod.
Our long serving and much-loved volunteer Mavis Johnson died in hospital after a short illness at the age of 89. A stalwart supporter of Sydney Eisteddfod, she worked tirelessly at our venues for years, mostly in the role of session secretary. No opera event was complete without her and all who knew her will miss her jolly presence.
Her funeral service will take place in the East Chapel at Northern Suburbs Crematorium on Monday, July 20 at 3.30pm.
The same day, Dr Vicki Freame who catered so expertly and creatively for many Sydney Eisteddfod functions, died at age 59 after suffering an aneurysm. Although not in good health, Vicki was always bright, generous and ready to laugh. She attended most major events staged by Sydney Eisteddfod and her passing will sadden all who knew her.
Vicki’s funeral will be held at 9am tomorrow (July 17) in the North Chapel at Pinegrove Memorial Park, Minchinbury.
The Sydney Eisteddfod team extends heartfelt sympathy to the families of these dear friends and trust they will find comfort in past memories.
