Dr Nicholas Milton AM
Sydney Eisteddfod delights in reporting that Dr Nicholas Milton, one of the finest violinists in its Galaxy of Stars, received an AM (Officer of the Order of Australia) in 2016 Australia Day Honours for his ‘significant service to the arts, particularly classical performance as a musician, conductor and artistic director.'
Now based in Germany as General Music Director and Chief Conductor of the State Opera House in Saarbrucken, Nicholas still calls Australia home. He makes regular flying visits and maintains active musical links as Chief Conductor of both the Canberra and Willoughby Symphony Orchestras.
Recently nominated for a Grammy Award, Nicholas comes from an intensely musical Lane Cove Family. He won his first medal at Sydney Eisteddfod at the age of seven in Violin Solo (9/u) in 1976, and between then and 1983, he has collected 34 medals, most of them gold and established himself most definitely as a musician with a future ahead.
