Stacey Alleaume hits high notes in America

Winner of the 2012 Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Aria Stacey Alleaume has returned from seven weeks in the United States with offers of exciting learning opportunities and letters of recommendation from leading opera coaches and agents in her luggage. While away, Stacey attended 23 coaching sessions and 12 auditions, along with numerous opera performances, concerts and Broadway shows.

In June this year, she will return to America to attend a Voice and Vocal program at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. As this program is directed by the renowned mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, entry is highly competitive. Some 550 singers applied to participate the 2015 course, but only 23 were accepted, and proud to be among them, Stacey will be attending on a full scholarship.

Like all budding opera stars, Stacey hopes to obtain a Young Artist position with a well-established company. She has already been short-listed by the Washington National Opera and the Florida Grand Opera and is eagerly awaiting the final results.
