In 2012, a number of outstanding young singers entered the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship and shining among them was Siobhan Stagg, a newcomer from Mildura, Victoria. The talent-spotters who follow this event through every round noticed her immediately, and through her performance in the semi-final, she qualified to compete in the Italian Opera Foundation Australia Scholarship. She won this prestigious event with flying colours and ventured abroad to continue her studies.
Since then, Siobhan has performed to great acclaim with the Deutsche Opera, Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera and The Royal Opera, at Covent Garden. Now widely recognised as a rising star in European and British opera circles, Siobhan will return to Australia in July to appear as guest artist in the three concerts French/Italian opera superstar Roberto Alagna is giving in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Regarded as the greatest lyric tenor in the world today, Alagna is incredibly handsome, oozes charisma and with these assets, plus a voice from the gods, he is drawing new audiences to classical music on a worldwide scale. This sensational opportunity will greatly enhance Siobhan’s growing reputation and applauding wholeheartedly, her friends at Sydney Eisteddfod wish her every success.
