Saantwana Lentz began learning clarinet at the age of 8. She studied through the school years with Kevin Murphy, and then completed a BMus at the Sydney Conservatorium with Gabor Reeves. The recipient of a German Government Scholarship for two successive years, Saantwana went on to study with Professor Hans Deinzer in Hannover.
As a performer, she has extensive experience in solo, orchestral and chamber music playing, both in Australia and overseas. As a teacher, Saantwana has worked at school and university level throughout Sydney for over 30 years, teaching clarinet, saxophone, recorder, musicianship and directing ensembles. She currently works from her private studio in Thornleigh, where students of all ages and levels are welcome.
Saantwana believes in a clear connection between enjoyment and skill, and aims to equip her students specifically for their individual goals in the hope that they will be both successful and also gain much pleasure from their music.
She is an AMEB Examiner for woodwinds.
