Speech and drama events have figured importantly in the Sydney Eisteddfod Syllabus ever since the competition began in 1933. Throughout the decades, many famous Australian actors have begun their performing careers on its drama stages, while its public speaking platform has served as a starting point for numerous lawyers, politicians and at least one prime minister.
The 2014 Syllabus includes events for budding thespians, radio announcers, public speakers and all those who rightly believe in the power of the spoken word. There are two Actor’s Championships, one for entrants aged between 16 and 21 years and the other for those in the 12-to-15 age group. Events for duos, trios and drama groups complete the program.
Nothing builds confidence more than performing in public and at Sydney Eisteddfod everyone learns and most thoroughly enjoy the experience.
The complete Syllabus can be viewed on the Sydney Eisteddfod website.
