Press Release: Maroubra songbird in final round of Sydney Eisteddfod Singer of the Year contest

Alissa Del Vecchio has been singing, dancing and acting most of her life. Her interest in the performing arts began when she was four and she has been developing her talents ever since.

Alissa has won many competitions and was recipient of music scholarships at both Kincoppal-Rose Bay and St Vincent’s College. Over the years, she has played leading roles in many musical theatre productions, Lily St Regis in Annie and the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz among them.

In 2011 she joined the Australian Institute of Dramatic Art’s Glee Club Australia Talent Development Program, and with a small group of elite triple threat performers, she worked with top industry professionals in Disneyland, Westlake, Universal and Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and New York. In 2012, she rejoined the group as a lead cast member and travelled to Los Angeles and Florida.

In 2013, Alissa completed her HSC with excellent results. Now studying for a Bachelor of Communications (Public Communications) and International Studies (Italian) at the University of Technology Sydney, she has also been accepted into the NIDA Studio Program in the Young Actors division.

The final of the Sydney Eisteddfod Junior Singer of the Year will take place at Petersham RSL Club on Tuesday, 9 September at 6.30pm and the final Sydney Eisteddfod Senior Singer of the Year is included in the evening’s program.
