CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NSW DOCTORS ORCHESTRA

Hats off and a million thanks to the 70-plus members of the NSW Doctors Orchestra who filled the mighty Verbrugghen Hall to the rafters when they serenaded the Sydney Eisteddfod cause with a magnificent fund-raising concert.

Entitled "An Afternoon in Vienna", the program included works by Schubert, Mahler and Strauss. Baritone Christopher Hillier, a former Sydney Eisteddfod champion, sang Mahlerês Songs of a Wayfarer and 2009 instrumentalist scholarship winner Chris Pidcock led the cello section.

Proceeds from this concert funded the 2012 Sydney Eisteddfod NSW Doctors Orchestra Scholarship in addition to supporting Can Assist.
