Nicholas Young welcomes in 2017 with Piano Recital at Sydney Opera House

perform.

Nicholas Young, 2016 winner of The John Allison & Sydney Eisteddfod Piano Scholarship, is set to launch his 2017 season with a solo piano recital at the Sydney Opera House Utzon Room.

The recital will pay homage to Salzburg where Nicholas undertook his Masters studies, and introduce the ideas and directions behind his latest projects. The program features a great range of music including the world premiere of Three Concert Pieces (2015) composed by Jonathan Mui and Mockingbird, a new ongoing series committed to celebrating and demonstrating classical technique through non-classical music. Mockingbird will provide an insight into his first major arrangement project that will be completed later in 2017.

When discussing the diversity of the selected program, Nicolas explained “it has always been my passion to explore the piano’s seemingly endless possibilities as a musical medium. I am incredibly excited to share the latest fruits of my collaborative work and personal reflection, and hope that both the connoisseur and the newcomer will leave the concert feeling that they have learnt something new about what the piano and pianist can do.”

Sydney Eisteddfod wishes Nicholas all the best success with the upcoming recital and cannot wait to hear of what he will achieve next.
