In a review of the May 2013 Youth of America Grand Prix issue of Dance Europe, leading British critic Deborah Weiss lavishes praise on Harrison Lee who emerged as the star of the junior competition.
Ms Weiss observes there was a standout winner among the juniors from the McDonald College in Australia. Harrison Lee's performance, and indeed his whole approach to his work, definitely fell into the jaw-dropping category. His manner is entirely unassuming, but this young man can fly! Still only 14, his potential oozes from every pore. He appears to be oblivious to the stir he has caused. His footwork is immaculate, his jump, breathtaking - he made the Flames of Paris variation look easy but spectacular! One to watch!
Ms Weiss praised the two other Australians who danced in the junior final. She described bronze medal winner Bianca Scudamore as being remarkably accomplished for her age with lovely footwork and a strong technique. She then commended Thomas Dilley on his vibrant performance, massive jumps and panache.
Like Harrison, Bianca and Thomas have both excelled on Sydney Eisteddfod stages and all three deserve a handclap for showing the world that Australians can dance.
