Most Sydney Eisteddfod dance devotees fondly remember Montana Rubin who between 2005 and 2012 collected a swag of medal on its stages. In 2011, she established herself as a dancer with a future by winning the Sydney Eisteddfod Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship, then in 2012, increased her standing by taking top honours in the prestigious Genée International Ballet Competition.
Convinced of her potential, her admirers earmarked her as the probable winner of the 2013 Sydney Eisteddfod, but this victory opened other opportunities and after careful consideration, Montana accepted an offer from The Australian Ballet School. She wholeheartedly embraced her studies there, attained the rank of School Captain in 2015 and with honours in both dance and learning, graduated as Double Dux.
