Moira Hawker


Moira Hawker graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Education). She also holds an Associate Diploma of Speech and Drama (AMEB) and a Certificate in Television Production (AFTRS). An experienced and dedicated teacher, Moira has taught at Pymble Ladies’ College and in her private studio on the North Shore of Sydney for nearly twenty years. Her students have been very successful in AMEB and Trinity College examinations, Eisteddfodau, Festivals and Public Speaking Competitions. Several of Moira’s students have gone on to professional careers in drama, opera and musical theatre both in Australia and overseas. Moira enjoys developing confidence and artistry in her students to enable them to engage in any spoken word opportunity that may present itself.

An experienced adjudicator, Moira believes it is a privilege to offer encouragement and guidance to participants in eisteddfodau and public speaking competitions. As Assistant Secretary of the Speech and Drama Association of NSW, Moira is proactive in providing professional development opportunities to colleagues and student members. She has presented workshops at seminars and contributed to the Association’s professional journal, The Voice.
