The Sydney Eisteddfod has been a feature of my life from childhood. I loved the opportunity of listening to other young musicians, making friends and hearing opinion on music from musicians who were not my teachers.
This important event provides young people with the opportunity to play in lovely venues for a range of different people. Performing for people is a key experience in any musician’s life and starting young sets up an expectation of what music can mean for themselves, for family and the community. Several decades later, I still enjoy hearing music made by friends during Sydney Eisteddfod events.
I congratulate performers, parents, adjudicators and the administrative team for putting on this wonderful event that contributes so strongly to the musical fabric of Sydney.
