Sydney Eisteddfod applauds Marlisa Punzalan on her magnificent victory in Channel 7’s The X Factor 2014. Marlisa, who celebrated her fifteenth birthday in October, bowed into Sydney Eisteddfod as a shy 10-year-old in 2009 and made an instant impression by winning the Vocal Performance for her age group.

Since then, Sydney Eisteddfod’s contemporary singing talent spotters have watched her develop from strength to strength. Last year, she won the Vocal Performance (14 years), along with the R&B and Gospel events for the 15 and under age group. This year, she entered five events, but could not compete because she was gathering fans nationwide as she progressed from one round into the next on The X Factor.
As the winner of this hugely popular show, Marlisa is now poised at the foot of the Stairway to the Stars, and convinced she has what it takes to complete her journey to the top, Sydney Eisteddfod congratulates her wholeheartedly and wishes her every success.
Marlisa is the second Sydney Eisteddfod champion to win a national television talent quest this year. In July, Anja Nissen, another 2013 triple gold medalist, triumphed in The Voice.
