After graduating with distinction from the Opera School at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Leonie Kozak went on to complete a Masters of Performance in voice also at the Sydney Conservatorium. Upon graduating she joined Sounds Baroque, an ensemble consisting of two singers, a harpsichord and a viola da gamba, and for several years performed the opera, Prospero’s Island, in over 300 shows for primary school students around NSW as part of the Musica Viva in Schools Programme. During this time, Leonie also performed with the Opera Australia chorus for a number of productions, highlights of which included Sweeney Todd, Le Nozze di Figaro and Iolanthe. She has also performed with vocal group Cantillation and Australian Brandenburg Orchestra Choir.
Leonie has taught singing for over 15 years within the Independent school system and has prepared many students for Music 1 and 2 performance programmes as well as AMEB exams. Her students have participated in eisteddfods and been members of Opera Australia’s Children’s Chorus for various productions.
