The 2016 Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship Final saw the audience on its feet, as Lania Atkins was presented outright winner. Lania wowed the crowd on Sunday 14 August with her performance at the Sydney Opera House. Joshua Jack Price, also received thunderous applause being awarded the second scholarship for best dancer of the opposite sex to the winner.
All eight finalists proved to be exceptionally talented and deserving of a place in this competitive event, having made it through the Preliminary rounds of 160 entrants, Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals.
David McAllister AM, artistic director of The Australian Ballet joined judges Rani Luther and Paul Knobloch for this final round of adjudication, and all three were in agreement that not only the two scholarship winners but also all finalists can anticipate promising careers in dance.
Sydney Eisteddfod once again congratulates Lania and Joshua on their wins, as well as all of the 2016 Finalists, Lauren Songberg, Luke Dimattina, George Susman, Tyla Steinbach, Natalie Taylor, Makensie Henson.
