Sydney Eisteddfod wishes to congratulate Soprano Kathryn Radcliffe on her well-deserved victory in the 2016 Opera & Arts Support Group Vocal Scholarship.

Held each year to further encourage the highest standards of Opera performance amongst those 30 years and under, the event carries a total prize of $17,000. Kathryn was the first to take to the stage, performing Ach ich liebte from
Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail and O beau pays de la Touraine from Meyerbeer's
Les Huguenots with unwavering skill, making the judges confident in their decision to award her the $10,000 scholarship.

Runner-up Mezzo Soprano Bronwyn Douglass was awarded the Paul Worthington OAM Encouragement Award with a prize of $5000 and Soprano Sarah Wang won the hearts of the crowd taking out the Audience Vote for the Graham Matheson Award.

Emma Matthews and Aldo Di Toro were the judges for the event this year, offering entrants an insight into their wealth of knowledge through their individual feedback.  Both judges have had extraordinary careers in the Operatic Arts and Sydney Eisteddfod is sure their wisdom will be greatly appreciated by those that performed.
