Currently signed to Sydney’s leading physical theatre company Legs On The Wall, Jess Wong is an independent contemporary dancer that has toured and performed extensively on both the domestic and international stage across the mediums of site specific, film and live performance. Jess’ foundations in ballet and gymnastics led her to a career in contemporary dance, starting with Opera Australia at age twelve.
Jess began full time training at Manly Dance Arts centre in 2001, and continued her studies at Melbourne University’s Victorian College of the Arts where she graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Dance. In 2012 Jess co-choreographed and co-produced a mixed media dance installation work 'Double Vision', collaborating with projection artist Thom Russell, for a residency at Screen Space, Melbourne.
Jess has experience with some of Australia’s leading choreographers including Narelle Benjamin, Lucy Guerin Inc and most notably Anthony Hamilton Projects 2013 Helpmann award winning ‘Black Project 1.’ Jess has also toured locally and internationally with Melbourne’s Finucane and Smith on a variety of projects. Jess is currently teaching and collaborating with Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art on ‘Fight, Flight or Freeze’ with director Gavin Robins.
