Ghillian Sullivan


In a major international career spanning some 30 years Ghillian Sullivan has sung over 40 leading roles from the lyric coloratura repertoire. Upon her return to Australia, she became a leading guest artist with Opera Australia, regional Opera companies and Australian Orchestras for over 15 years.

Her roles include Traviata, Gilda, Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna and Donna Elvira, Konstanze, both Susanna and Countess Almaviva, Leila in The Pearlfishers, Adina in The Elixir of Love, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Marguerite in Faust, Olive in The Summer of the 17th Doll, The Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Mimi, Musetta and many others, including most of the Gilbert & Sullivan soprano roles.

Ghillian has wide knowledge of Lieder, Chanson, American and English Song, American Musicals, and Music Theatre.

Ghillian has directed for several tertiary institutions and over 10 productions with her Opera company Newcastle Festival Opera. Her affordable and enjoyable Opera Workshops teach stagecraft, fast learning methods and self-reliance, guided by professional tutors.
