Alex Chorley and Hudson Musty were pretty pleased with themselves after winning a gold medal at the Sydney Eisteddfod Verse Speaking and Prose Speaking events at the Northside Baptist Church on May 25 - the fact they are friends made this victory the more special.
Alex, 16, is a Sydney Eisteddfod veteran who competed in 15 events in 2015, taking home the winning title in the Shakespeare Event (14-16), the Monologue/Character Event (under 15), Verse Speaking (14/15), Song from Operetta (under 16) and the Song from a Musical (under 15).
This year the Ryde resident won the Verse Speaking event (16-18 years) and a cash prize of $250.
Castle Hill resident Hudson, 16, won the Sydney Eisteddfod Prose Speaking event (16-18 years), taking home $150. In 2015 he entered six events and won the Sydney Eisteddfod Actor’s Championship (12-15 years), pocketing $500 in prize money.
The Sydney Eisteddfod Verse Speaking and Prose Speaking events are among 326 events in the Sydney Eisteddfod calendar this year, which goes from May to September.
