Good luck to all of Sydney Eisteddfod’s Dance of Champions Finalists in their end of year concerts and celebrations!
Some of the groups have really exciting performances leading up to the end of the year and Sydney Eisteddfod wishes them all a fantastic end of season.
St Ursula’s College
Performance: St. Ursula’s College Dance Showcase
Date: November 4
About the concert: The College’s Senior Dance Troupe performed at the annual Dance Showcase when all Year 12 students present their final piece of assessment to the school community and general public. The troupe will commence a new dance work in 2017.
Pymble Ladies’ College
Performance: Circus- A Dance Showcase
Date: November 10 -12.
About the concert: The Dance of Champions People’s Choice winners were among 600 students taking part in the Co-curricular Dance Showcase. The Chandelier item was performed in sold out shows at the Gillian Moore Centre for Performing Arts.
Mosman Dance Academy
Performance: The Royal Ballet in the concert titled Bon Voyage.
Date: November 13.
About the concert: Held at the Big Top at Luna Park Bon Voyage was a magical dance journey around the world. All dance items represented various places across the world and the Classical Ballet (10/u) group performed The Royal Ballet to represent UK.
North Shore Dance Academy
Performance: Thumbelina in the concert An Afternoon of Dance.
Date: November 26.
About the concert: Dancers from the Classical Ballet group (14/u) are dancing in their class items and in the school’s main story ballet, Thumbelina, based on Hans Christian Andersen's famous story about Thumbelina's adventures in the forest and the characters she meets.
Lindfield Public School
Performance: The Year 5/6 Show Troupe will perform Bond on Bond at the end of year Presentation Assembly.
Date: December 8
About the concert: Lindfield Public School not only saw their Bond dance succeed at Sydney Eisteddfod and Dance of Champions, but they also successfully auditioned and performed in the Ryde School Spectacular held in the Sydney Opera House in October. Interestingly we started the year with a different routine and after 10 hours of choreography over six weeks we decided to change the theme and choreography altogether – very lucky choice!
Canberra Dance Development Centre
Performance: Bright Shadow in the AUTH-OR-IZE concert.
Date: December 8 and 9
About the concert: The winners of the Sydney Eisteddfod Dance of Champions will perform their winning piece Bright Shadow, choreographed by Paul Knobloch at the centre’s AUTH-OR-IZE concert, which promises to be an energetic and exuberant showcase of its best full-time students.
