Sydney Eisteddfod extends a huge congratulations to the 2016 winners of The Wenkart Foundation Ballet Championships in 14 years and 15 years age groups. Queensland ballerinas dominated the two events, with both first places awarded to dancers from the state.
Ayala Simons, from Noosaville, was victorious among 33 competitors dancing for the winning title on 4th July in The Wenkart Foundation Ballet Championship (15 years) with a score of 190 for two items. The 15-year-old is a Semi-Finalist in the Robert & Elizabeth Albert Sydney Eisteddfod Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship on July 10. She also received a Highly Commended for her performance in the Classical Ballet (15yrs), Modern Expressive/Lyrical Dance (15yrs) and the Demi-Character (15yrs) events this year.
On 5th July, Sunshine Coast dancer Courtney Callaghan, 14, beat 35 other entrants for the gold in The Wenkart Foundation Ballet Championship (14 Years) also with a score of 190 for two items. She was a finalist in the Classical Ballet (14yrs) event, placed third in the Contemporary Dance (14yrs) event and received a Highly Commended placing in the Jazz Dance (14yrs) event.
